Barnes Children's Literature Festival with Lauren Child…
This year I'm doing an event on May 14th at the Barnes Children's Literature Festival 2016 with Lauren Child, speaking about working together designing her books. We'll be talking about Charlie and Lola, Clarice Bean and Ruby Redfort, among other things.
There will be plenty of behind the scenes info and anecdotes, like the day I set some type at 24pt leading when Lauren had actually requested 23pt! There's plenty more where that came from.

The moose on the book shelf…
I found an unfinished moose head trophy in a box and have added it to a low shelf in the hall. It makes a nice change from the paperbacks languishing there.

I really can't work with you hovering like that…

Treasure Island ahoy…
Copies of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson arrived today. I'm very pleased to have added some illustrations throughout this great text, one I've loved since I read it when I was ten.
Sydney workshop in the bag...
Next week...
Didn't know you could draw? You'd be surprised. Come by the Childrens Bookshop in Beecroft, Sydney, for a workshop on drawing and storytelling with pictures. It's for 8-10 year olds who like drawing or didn't know they had it in them. Or just come along to say hi if you like. Contact the bookshop to book a place

Dropping by to say hi is informal.
